Plan Your Visit

Not sure what to expect at your massage therapy session?

Expect a comfortable, professional environment. Both the room and the massage table can be as warm or cool as you like. Sheets and towels are laundered with scent-free detergents. You’ll disrobe in private, and during your session your entire body will remain covered (except, of course, the part of your body Jan is working on). Various lotions and oils are available; it’s your call which, if any, is used during your session.

You also always have the option to remain clothed. This may be preferable, depending on the session goal. For orthopedic-style sessions, it is a good idea to bring a tank top and pair of running shorts to change into.

Expect an open dialogue. Before your session, you and Jan will discuss what’s going on with your body and talk about your wishes and expectations. During the session, you can request more or less pressure, ask Jan to spend a little more time on a particular area or skip a sensitive spot altogether… again, it’s up to you.

Most sessions involve a combination of traditional Swedish, deep tissue and myofascial massage techniques. No two sessions are exactly the same, since no two people are the same — even the same person has different needs on different days. But the goal is always the same; to help you feel better when you leave than you did when you arrived.
